Centre National d'Art et de Culture Georges-Pompidou

This atypical museum keeps works following on from those held by the Louvre and Orsay museums: it was inaugurated in 1977 and planned by Renzo Piano and Richard Rogers who were stimulated by an idea from President George Pompidou. It is a place in which visual arts, cinema, books, music and audiovisual research are reunited in a structure whose interior and exterior aspects are interchangeable. From the outside the building shows various loops in different colours: green for water piping, yellow for electricity, blue for ventilation, red for escalators, lifts and freight elevators. There are five floors and two underground levels.
The National Museum of Modern Art keeps works belonging to streams which include Fauvism, Cubism, Figuratism and Realism, Dadaism and Surrealism and American Art to name just a few.  Authors of the calibre of Ricasso, Matisse, Kandinskij, Modigliani, Chagall, Dalì, Manritte, Mirò are on show.
